Kate Moss inspires a new revolution
This week was one for the books here at BASE HQ...Our Overnight Glow Drops just won Best Exfoliating Serum of 2025 in the Beauty Shortlist Awards! 🏆
Their familiar little logo has always been a mark of trust to me, and I’ll admit, my heart was pounding as I opened the email. Seeing one of our BASE babies take first place was totally surreal, but it also felt like a full-circle moment.
My goal with BASE has always been simple: to create skincare that makes your skin shine on its own, so you can embrace the most natural, authentic version of you. And it turns out, the rest of the world - including a very famous supermodel - is finally catching up…
The Kate Moss ‘Invisible Makeup’ Moment
Last week, Vogue wrote an article about how Kate Moss attended Paris Fashion Week with a bold new beauty choice: ‘invisible makeup.’
The same woman who once defined 90s grunge with smudged eyeliner, matte foundation, and a ‘more is more’ approach to makeup, stepped out with a completely fresh-faced glow.
Her makeup was neutral and barely there, her skin looked fresh and instead of covering up, she let her natural beauty shine through.
The Beauty Evolution: From Full-Coverage to Skin Confidence
Years ago, like Kate, many of us were taught that a flawless face meant a full face.
I have vivid memories of standing in front of the bathroom mirror at school, topping up my Dream Matte Mousse (a blast from the past 😉) between lessons. Concealer was our go-to for breakouts, powder kept oil at bay, and skincare? Well, that was mostly an afterthought.
But thankfully, we know better now.
The goal isn’t to hide your skin. It’s to take care of it so well, that you don’t feel the need to.
When you follow a perfectly balanced skincare routine (hello, The 5 Minute Kit 👋🏼), makeup can become a whisper, not a mask.
From Beauty to Wellness: The Bigger Picture
This shift in beauty thinking actually reminds me of how we used to approach dieting in the 90s too…
Back then, it was all about quick fixes. Cutting calories, avoiding fats, and jumping on whatever crash diet was trending that month (makes my toes curl just thinking about it).
Now? We focus on nourishing our bodies, not depriving them. We know real health comes from what we put in, not what we take away. And skincare is the same.
Instead of stripping, drying, and covering. We’re hydrating, exfoliating, and supporting our skin, so that it works with us, not against us.
The New Era of Beauty: ‘Real Skin’ is In
To me, this new wave of beauty isn’t just a fleeting trend, it’s a cultural shift.
We’re moving away from cakey formulas that promise ‘perfection’ but only end up suffocating our skin. Instead, we’re embracing skincare that enhances, rather than hides.
At BASE, this has been our philosophy since day one. And the best part? Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated. Just 5 minutes a day has the power to make you look and feel your best, with or without makeup.
The fact that Overnight Glow Drops were recognised this same week? It only proves that when you take care of your skin, it naturally takes care of you.
So, the Kate Moss invisible makeup look? It gets a big tick from me! I hope this movement continues to give people the courage to know that their true, authentic, bare-faced selves are always more than enough ♥️
