My complete evening routine
A couple of months ago I shared my morning routine and ever since, I’ve had so many messages asking me to share what my evening ritual looks like. So, your wish is my command!
For some reason, morning routines always get more airtime as people seem to believe that having it nailed is the key to a great day. However, I would argue that the prep for greatness starts the night before, which is why I value my evening routine just as highly.
Of course, the timings are slightly looser as I have nowhere to be other than my beloved bed! But the concepts and habits I include are still designed to make me feel the best version of me and it also ensures the following morning goes without a hitch too.
So after I’ve eaten my dinner, I start my ritual with with a double cleanse of the Dream Clean Cleanser. This obviously has its practical benefits in terms of effortlessly erasing makeup and daily grime, but it literally feels like washing the stresses of the day away too…The perfect way to set the tone for the evening.
Once my skin is thoroughly clean, I run my beautiful bathtub. There is very rarely a day I skip this step as the bath is truly my happy place. However, it isn’t a fancy ‘lay back and relax’ type soak. Instead I take the time to to tie up any loose ends, reply to my emails or I do my ‘big thinking’ for our latest projects
The warm water seems to soothe my soul and then my creative energy kicks in. In fact, BASE was named in my bathtub! 🙌🏼 😂
When I emerge, I always follow up with the rest of my 5 Minute Kit. This leaves enough time before bed for my skin to absorb all the goodness rather than my pillow and ensures I never get too tired to do it. Even for someone as obsessed with skincare as I am, if I waited until bedtime, I know there’s a chance it wouldn’t get done!
So I always complete my routine whilst I’m still energised enough to enjoy those few moments of me time and finish with a quick 60 second face massage. I’ll link the one I follow, here.
Although it would almost be impossible for me to massage my own body, I do like to show it some TLC too. As most days I spend hours hunched over my desk or leaning over the treatment bed, I release any tension or stagnant energy with a good, old fashioned stretch.
My practice changes regularly, however I’m currently loving a sequence of 5 moving yoga poses called ‘The 5 Tibetan Rites‘…There’s a theme of 5s here isn’t there?! I’m all for making things as easy as possible in all aspects of my life 😉
By the time I’m done, it’s approximately 9pm which (don’t be alarmed), is about the time I head to bed. I don’t go to sleep this early, but I do aim to have an hour or so all to myself to read, watch or do anything I fancy.
I’d love to tell you I’m disciplined enough not to look at my phone, however that would be a lie! What I do try and do though is not look at anything work related. Although this is a challenge for someone who loves what they do, I have learned that giving my brain a chance to recharge each night, makes me far more capable and effective the following day.
Once 10pm rolls around, I’m usually completely at peace and ready for a full 8 hours of beauty sleep. In my mind, I list all the things I’m grateful for as I drift off and before I know it, I’m out for the count. If you have a busy mind like me, give this little trick a try as it's genuinely worked wonders!
Of course, it doesn’t always go perfectly to plan. But having a fail-safe routine to fall back on means that even when life gets busy, I naturally slip back into a pattern of self-care that works for me right now. I hope you have a system that works beautifully for you too and allows you just enough time to ensure you’re never at the bottom of your own to-do list 🥰
