The skincare tools I swear by...
About a fortnight ago on Instagram, I asked if you’d like to see a blog about the at-home facial gadgets I swear by and was totally blown away by your response! In fact, it was one of the most clicked polls I’ve ever conducted, so this evening I thought I’d share the tools and devices that get my professional seal of approval.
With that being said, I want to preface this post by reassuring you that the tools we’re about to discuss are a ‘nice to have’ and not a ‘need to have’. If you’re using your Proactive Age Kit both morning and night, I can assure you that all your skin needs are being met and exceeded. These little gadgets are simply here to target specific areas of concern or boost the amazing results you’re already receiving.
The Pure Roller
I’m starting with this tool because in my opinion, it’s a complete allrounder and delivers the best results at home. It recreates the most popular treatment in my own clinic and it’s the only tool I use religiously.
The Pure Roller works by creating tiny microchannels into your skin which stimulates natural collagen production in the deeper layers. This in itself minimises the appearance of lines and wrinkles and delivers firmer, brighter, younger-looking skin. These microchannels also increase product absorption by up to a whopping 66%! This means you get up to 66% better results from the routine you’re already practicing.
It’s a tiny addition that makes a massive impact.
Microcurrent Devices
Imagine microcurrent devices like taking your face to the gym. These tools send gentle electrical current through your skin and into the muscles below to give them a little workout. They are wonderful for toning areas of the face that have perhaps lost a little elasticity, such as the jawline and jowls, and make them appear more toned and sculpted.
To obtain real, long-lasting results from these tools you must be super consistent and daily use is recommended. It’s also important to note that unfortunately they’re not created equally and therefore you need to keep your eyes peeled for clinically proven brands such as NuFace and FOREO. Either will help you to achieve that desired, lifted look at home.
Cryo Ball
It can be quite common at this time of year to wake up a little puffier than usual. This can be linked to increased alcohol consumption, richer foods than you’re used to, late nights and even stress. For me personally, it’s a certain time of the month that has my face looking a little rounder than I’d like it to!!
Regardless of the cause however, the cryo ball is what will help to fix it…and fast! This ice-cold tool is rolled across your face to constrict the blood vessels in your skin. In a matter of minutes, it reduces any swelling and delivers a temporary skin tightening effect too.
Now, some places will charge you a fortune for this type of tool however in my opinion, you don’t need to spend any more than £15. I can guarantee it will work just as brilliantly as the unnecessarily expensive versions, so please save your pennies.
The LED Mask
Made famous by Instagram itself, the LED face mask is an amazing tool for those with slightly more sensitised skin. If you suffer with redness, frequent breakouts, or general inflammation such as eczema or psoriasis, these masks can help to gently calm your complexion and relive irritation. In fact, NASA themselves use a form of LED gadget to heal wounds when in space.
As with the microcurrent tool though, not all LED masks are made to the same standards, and you need a wavelength that is able to penetrate the skin and generate results at the source. For this reason, I’d only advise clinically proven brands such as CurrentBody or Dr Dennis Gross. As an added bonus, both work deep enough to deliver a little collagen boost too.
And they’re my top-rated tools in a nutshell! Unfortunately, the Pure Rollers are currently out of stock, but we’ve had confirmation that they’ll be back just in time for our Black Friday Sale - Yayyyy!
The biggest thank you again for helping to inspire this blog. I love nothing more than writing about things I know you’re keen to learn about, so please always feel free to send me your questions, queries, or suggestions. If you’re wondering something, chances are there are hundreds of other people wondering the same thing too!
