What the heck is ‘Project Pan’?
This week, I’ve been loving crisp winter walks, catching up with our suppliers, and reading about an exciting new beauty trend. Now, if you’ve been here a while, you’ll know that most beauty trends have me rolling my eyes. But this one? It’s something I’ve surprisingly championed long before it was cool.
The Evolution of Beauty Trends
Without wanting to sound like a cavewoman, I remember the year YouTube launched. Back then, skincare creators were called ‘Beauty Gurus’ - a title that probably makes them cringe just as much as I did typing it. But their passion for products was one of the gateways to my own career.
They were just regular women, sharing their makeup bags, spot treatments, and skincare hauls. In many ways, they were the pioneers of the now-thriving influencer industry.
The problem? In showcasing so many products, they amassed huge collections of makeup and skincare they could never fully use. So, when they actually finished a product, it was a big deal. They’d excitedly share that they had ‘hit pan’ (a term for reaching the bottom of a compact or bottle).
Fast forward 20 years, and that concept has turned into a full-blown trend: Project Pan.
What Is Project Pan?
After decades of excessive beauty hauls, the goal now is to simplify routines and use up what you already own rather than constantly buying more.
This shift is likely due to a long-overdue focus on mindful consumption, sustainability. and reducing waste and unnecessary spending. A true ‘quality over quantity’ approach!
And funnily enough, this mindset was one of my key motivations when developing The 5 Minute Kit.
Why a Minimalist Routine Works Wonders
For years, I had clients come to the clinic overwhelmed by the sheer number of skincare products they had. They didn’t know:
✅ Which serums they actually needed
✅ Which ingredients were for morning vs. night
✅ How to layer products effectively
So, to cut through the confusion, I created a simple, five-step system containing everything your skin actually needs. No more wasted money on fads, no more hours spent wandering beauty aisles, just effortless, results-driven skincare.
I even received a beautiful email from a customer this week saying how much this streamlined approach had transformed their routine. And honestly? I couldn’t be happier that this is the way forward.
If we can maintain this sustainable, stress-free approach to skincare, we won’t just improve our complexions, we’ll make a real impact on the planet too.
Why I Hope Project Pan Is Here to Stay
‘Project Pan’ is a win-win in my book. Less waste, smarter spending and a more mindful approach to beauty. It’s a trend I truly hope is here to stay!
