My top 3 professional skin treatments
As a qualified aesthetician, the treatment room is my second home. I’m trained to tackle even the most aggressive skin conditions and nothing gives me more satisfaction than watching complexions transform.
It’s true that when it comes to seeing results, 90% of the work is done at home with your 5 Minute Kit. However, if you have a specific concern you'd like to target or want to turbo-charge your results, here are my 3 favourite treatments...
1. Skin Peels (aka Chemical Peels)
When I was growing up, I discovered skin peels on shows like ‘10 Years Younger’…Who remembers those days?! Back then, these were super intense treatments that would require weeks and weeks of recovery.
However, formulas have developed hugely since then and we can now treat concerns such as acne or pigmentation without affecting your day to day life.
The treatment involves a chemical solution being applied to your skin which causes a controlled exfoliation. This process removes the outer layer of damaged skin cells and reveals the smoother, rejuvenated layers hiding underneath.
Different chemicals of varying strengths will be used depending on the concern you’re looking to correct. In my clinic though, I typically use light skin peels once a month as this ensures my client’s complexions are clear, radiant and youthful, without any downtime.
2. IPL
IPL stands for ‘Intense Pulsed Light’. As the name suggests, it’s a form of light therapy which is exceptional for treating hyperpigmentation, rosacea or broken capillaries (thread veins).
During the appointment, the IPL machine sends a broad spectrum of light into your skin, which feels as though a horde of paparazzi have come to take your photo!
The light is then absorbed by specific targets such as dark spots or blood vessels and turned into heat. The heat then breaks these targets down, allowing the pigmentation and damaged blood vessels to disperse.
The downtime is minimal and in some cases, results are instant, which makes it one of the most satisfying treatments to perform.
3. Microneedling
Now, I’m sure we all know how much I love microneedling at this point 😍 It’s my most popular treatment in clinic and the TLC Roller is one of our best-selling products.
Both work in exactly the same way to target uneven skin texture that has been caused by either acne scars or lines and wrinkles.
The only difference between professional and at-home rolling, is the needles. In clinic, we are qualified to use longer-lengths to help us target severe concerns. However, for general skin plumping and firming, it’s completely safe to do the treatment on yourself at home.
Either way, microneedling is the best natural alternative to Botox and as someone who has done it religiously over the past few years, the results continue to improve over time.
If professional skin treatments are something you're considering, there are lots of incredible clinics across the country that will be able to advise and guide you through the process. Just make sure to see a fully qualified professional and you’ll be in super safe hands.
Rest assured though, your 5 Minute Kit is everything your skin needs and anything else is just a bonus 🥰
